It features the same fascinating texture surrounded by delicious garter stitch. <br />Loose
yourself in this perfectly small project and create your own feel good
accessory. It’s an ideal project to use up some sweet left over yarn.
This cowl only uses about 200m/219yards of DK weight yarn to keep you warm and cozy. Alternatively you can use light
fingering weight yarn held double (which equals DK weight) and create
your very own look.<br />The cowl is worked seamlessly in the round one half at a time. Starting
with a provisional cast on in the middle of the cowl allows for identical edges at the top and the
bottom as well as it makes seaming unnecessary. </p><p>When designing Orla sweater I was flirting with the idea of a turtle neck instead of a round neckline. And in the end, I decided against it. But still I couldn't quite shake the desire to have some part of Orlas beautiful texture warming my neck. And that's how Orla cowl came to life.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZZgXotNAFL0rOINt8CFhRTeWLHENtIauYDvzlbMXxKObdQeqHc1xgTcTPOisy4Mshd3-22E3_LOtujsUqcdUk_ibFl-6u4M8gN_zQzMx6lMz7-rdy41KpNtdiPaP-xmFLCFS98Cm63FS-X_WcNuV88GDGYfRC8Lrgb2Fols_I1YTYbShll_hpjp4_yIo/s2368/IMG_20231123_110451-01-01.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2368" data-original-width="2368" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZZgXotNAFL0rOINt8CFhRTeWLHENtIauYDvzlbMXxKObdQeqHc1xgTcTPOisy4Mshd3-22E3_LOtujsUqcdUk_ibFl-6u4M8gN_zQzMx6lMz7-rdy41KpNtdiPaP-xmFLCFS98Cm63FS-X_WcNuV88GDGYfRC8Lrgb2Fols_I1YTYbShll_hpjp4_yIo/s320/IMG_20231123_110451-01-01.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>I loved knitting my sample for this design. I've been using a light fingering weight yarn, Sarah by Permin (50% merino, 50% shetland wool) held double. The same as for the sweater design sample. It is a very lovely yarn that I fell in love with but which was only available in light finering weight. But when designing the sweater I wanted to design a cozier, more wooly-wintery sweater than the <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/solros-2" target="_blank"><b><i>Solros sweater</i></b></a> I designed last year. So I decided for holding the yarn double. </p><p>Using two strands of light fingering weight yarn together also opens a world of creating your very own version of this design. By choosing two different colors or two colors close to each other you can create a depth to the look of the finished cowl and really make it your own.</p><p>Orla cowl is also a perfect small project to use some of that squishy delicious left over DK weight yarn from a sweater or so that you might have in your stash and are still looking to use. </p><p>This design is a very engaging knit, not only because of its captivating flowery texture elements, but also because it has this very interesting construction. Starting with a provisional cast on in the middle of the cowl it is then knitted outwards one half at a time.<br />To top it off the strechy icelandic bind off is used, which is a perfect fit for the garter stitch background and gives enough space for a comfortable fit. <br />And since there's the same bind off at the top and the bottom of the cowl, both sides match and create perfect harmony.<br /></p><p> </p><p> I hope you love ORLA cowl as much as I do and make it your very own favorite winter accessory.</p><p><i>To celebrate the release of the pattern enjoy 20% off this pattern with code ORLA in my Ravelry store until Sunday, January 21</i>. <br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Have an awesome weekend!</p><p>Stefanie<br /></p><p> <br /></p><p><br /></p>thedrizzleofhoneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01747688810599627449noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1347189839171269126.post-75156569977838833552023-12-08T16:36:00.006+01:002023-12-08T16:43:55.319+01:00New pattern - ORLA sweater<p>It's pattern release day!</p><p>ORLA sweater is now available on <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/orla-13" target="_blank"><i><b>Ravelry</b></i></a>! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjf0a4Dg0oIjQjExRbhT3ZpAzTWZrDkhTX8PfSfvfxDu34oNz-5OU31TZaPDTK-lnT6pjN8btoQ6kNwGwKQJxZyXVKPvs8dp43HnrbA79EoTsP3lkBbu7B9Leyco8eCSzcafv3LF47QqJxlovJPokX_scnI3vy9zNnC27ABH1aaI8jWtNFcq1hltli4WA/s3648/IMG_20231019_122258-01.jpeg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3648" data-original-width="2736" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjf0a4Dg0oIjQjExRbhT3ZpAzTWZrDkhTX8PfSfvfxDu34oNz-5OU31TZaPDTK-lnT6pjN8btoQ6kNwGwKQJxZyXVKPvs8dp43HnrbA79EoTsP3lkBbu7B9Leyco8eCSzcafv3LF47QqJxlovJPokX_scnI3vy9zNnC27ABH1aaI8jWtNFcq1hltli4WA/s320/IMG_20231019_122258-01.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><i> </i></p><p><i> </i></p><p><i>ORLA</i> is a top-down yoke sweater. Get inspired by the deliciously textured yoke and oh-so-cozy garter stitch. Get captivated by elongated stitches,
cables without the need for a cable needle and bobbles that are
worked on the right side only. </p><p>This design is worked seamlessly in the
round and uses DK weight yarn for extra comfort. <br />The pattern offers 7
sizes, ranging from 85-145cm/34-58inches bust, including 10-15cm/ 4-6
inches of positive ease for a feel good fit.</p><p>My inspiration for this design is the seasonal change from summer to fall. The
ornaments remind me of trees that have lost some of their leaves but are
still standing strong with their crowns. The arrow-like textures are inspired by
the wind that’s blowing away the leaves, and you can see them whirling
around in the air. <br />But at the same time there is harmony and quiet, represented by the arrows showing in the same direction and earths peace in the striped section in the middle.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCJubFSA8Tjd3Oc5MOa3Y-TUasd7CrzcCK3LLkkp017Jfg0nxdmUt-hS03CoPw4N8FPh_RRgm9ewv9KJTyH7lQHTozo28nxJgglkmSAkGxgw2WkAAHYfo5iV3jnntOph1wOAjzOlz0Cr1jaDJueyDjA0uV4N97u9LEQHltDcMagaTdPEZYg2KGUU9nRw8/s3648/IMG_20231019_115949-01.jpeg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3648" data-original-width="2736" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCJubFSA8Tjd3Oc5MOa3Y-TUasd7CrzcCK3LLkkp017Jfg0nxdmUt-hS03CoPw4N8FPh_RRgm9ewv9KJTyH7lQHTozo28nxJgglkmSAkGxgw2WkAAHYfo5iV3jnntOph1wOAjzOlz0Cr1jaDJueyDjA0uV4N97u9LEQHltDcMagaTdPEZYg2KGUU9nRw8/s320/IMG_20231019_115949-01.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><br /> </p><p><b> </b></p><p><b> </b></p><p><b> </b></p><p><b> </b></p><p><b> </b></p><p><b> </b></p><p><b> </b></p><p><b> </b></p><p><b> </b></p><p><b> </b></p><p><b>Sizes:</b> <br />XS, S, M (L, 1X, 2X, 3X) <br />Finished bust circumference <br />85, 95, 105(115, 125, 135, 145)cm / <br />34, 38, 42(46, 50, 54, 58)inches <br />Orla

You can find the pattern now on <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/havtorn" target="_blank">Ravelry</a>.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbShwVW-xW5AJOqzxkL_jLQN2CL2L9QXyo4znx1un_qlXh5x8YGRL07HVk-BigfBp72EsXMdU6jYJnRe6KrmosHl51Qjay2MQCl2JmgCI7jC8d8n40WD-UyXbBR4R14mg_B0ccDIBM5-zdIxoeFuQ1eo13Pce5wKHVk7zi-HnjO7gKNVHaFUaY3I9TNtM/s3400/IMG_20230531_085524-01.jpeg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3400" data-original-width="1910" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbShwVW-xW5AJOqzxkL_jLQN2CL2L9QXyo4znx1un_qlXh5x8YGRL07HVk-BigfBp72EsXMdU6jYJnRe6KrmosHl51Qjay2MQCl2JmgCI7jC8d8n40WD-UyXbBR4R14mg_B0ccDIBM5-zdIxoeFuQ1eo13Pce5wKHVk7zi-HnjO7gKNVHaFUaY3I9TNtM/w225-h400/IMG_20230531_085524-01.jpeg" width="225" /></a></div><p><i> </i></p><p><i> </i></p><p><i> </i></p><p><i> </i></p><p><i> </i></p><p><i> </i></p><p><i>Havtorn</i> is an elongated triangular shaped shawl that begins
with a garter tab cast on and grows by six stitches every two rows. The
shawl is built in two sections, each using either of the two colors used
as its main color. <br />The pattern is carefully designed for you to always
work comfortably with one strand at a time. Once the body is complete, a
delicious textured border is added. The spaced petit picot bind off
gives the shawl its finishing touch.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>I had so much fun designing this shawl. I played a lot with different textures and stitch combinations as I just couldn't decide at first which ones to use. This involved what felt like endless swatching. But I have gained a lot of insight and found new stitch combos that I will be able to also use for upcoming designs as well. And that made a lot of fun! The design process for Havtorn was very inspiring. </p><p>I had the idea for this design for quite some time although it also took its time to come to life. To create a vision in real life sometimes takes some experimenting and going back and forth, as I also did while sample knitting. And so, the pattern is now released a little later as I was hoping for. But I think it was definately worth the wait! I am so in love with this design! All that beautiful texture and the different elements that work together and complement each other are just amazing.</p><p>My favorite part is the textured border in combination with the petit picot bind off. It makes this shawl so elegant and feminine. <br /></p><p>I can't wait to see some more colorful versions of yours since my sample uses neutral colors. That too was an experiment of sorts. I usually work with colorful yarns. During testing I already had the pleasure of a lovely interpretation in red and beige which I find so beautiful. </p><p>So don't miss out on the 20% release celebration discout and use code HAVTORN on <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/havtorn" target="_blank">Ravelry</a>!</p><p><br /></p><h3 style="text-align: left;">A little more details... <br /></h3><p><b>Yarn:</b> <br />You'll need approx. 300m/ 329yds of color A and 450m/ 493yds of color B of DK weight yarn.</p>
<p>The sample is worked in Drops Soft Tweed (50% Wool, 25% Alpaca, 25%
Rayon; 130 meters / 50 grams), colorways 3 sand (color A) and 8
pepparkorn/dark grey (color B).</p>
<p><b>Gauge:</b> <br />18 sts / 27 rows = 10cm / 4 inches in stockinette pattern on 3,5mm/US 4 needles <br />Gauge is not critical. But it will influence size of shawl and amount of yarn needed.</p>
<p><b>Finished size:</b> <br />Finished size is about 180cm/ 72 inches wingspan and 70cm / 28 inches deep.</p>
<p><b>Instructions:</b> <br />The pattern includes charts and fully written instructions for all sections.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAyv4CZKfgfQR7_h8Lk2SmZAyvozanVOmzVZdLNHobXOsf1QhNcRyT_xPHsArXnGOXHtbPfUk4vlped7m0u7y6rnl-kpkffKuqcN6YwEmmLaH6M3zb4sqiA3M97HZa9T4AYqUQFVWsAnK9EPywpCF9jj-mkTv3PbjhRPc_ZwzR1j_QCtI__0H9aSUKJtY/s3648/IMG_20230620_131312-01.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3648" data-original-width="2736" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAyv4CZKfgfQR7_h8Lk2SmZAyvozanVOmzVZdLNHobXOsf1QhNcRyT_xPHsArXnGOXHtbPfUk4vlped7m0u7y6rnl-kpkffKuqcN6YwEmmLaH6M3zb4sqiA3M97HZa9T4AYqUQFVWsAnK9EPywpCF9jj-mkTv3PbjhRPc_ZwzR1j_QCtI__0H9aSUKJtY/s320/IMG_20230620_131312-01.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><br /> <p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>

The wonderful Sorley Shawl is now available in my Ravelry store!</p><p><i><b><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sorley" target="_blank">Sorley</a></b></i> is a very light summer shawl perfect for when there's just that tiny bit of wind that gives you instant goosebumps.</p><p>The narrow shawl combines airy textures in two colors with a special construction that makes it a creative and interesting knit. You'll only need about half a skein of two colors of your favorite fingering weight yarn to finish this shawl.</p><p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT7XgyjEugoE7FgqhE1TqAh9mYfPqZAvH7AuB6kjwc_K3iE_8KsfGwIyX7jKEJG-KpSx0h2bBcS28GtM9S_u4OSJQPIgfPfs7DgRWhLOeBsYKS3ba6C--CjSBcBJP-kqT4cRUq1k0Hnzo_3Ckvyy-EiTp1lqB66d0TsDAlcJ3RJmD3_UwUJ7EF7ip7/s3648/IMG_20220417_131814-01.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3648" data-original-width="2736" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT7XgyjEugoE7FgqhE1TqAh9mYfPqZAvH7AuB6kjwc_K3iE_8KsfGwIyX7jKEJG-KpSx0h2bBcS28GtM9S_u4OSJQPIgfPfs7DgRWhLOeBsYKS3ba6C--CjSBcBJP-kqT4cRUq1k0Hnzo_3Ckvyy-EiTp1lqB66d0TsDAlcJ3RJmD3_UwUJ7EF7ip7/w240-h320/IMG_20220417_131814-01.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/purchase/the-drizzle-of-honey-knitwear/779477" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.ravelry.com/images/shopping/buy-now.gif" /></a></div><p>I am so in love with this design. It is also a very nice smaller shawl to complete your outfit by adding a little something around your neck. And shouldn't you need it right now it takes only very little space in your bag. So you have the shawl with you. To be safe.<br />The test knit showcased beautifully how pretty this shawl is in any combination of colors. It just works, and that makes me very happy. <br /><i>Test knitter omiegosh wrote: “It’s a great place to use up those
leftovers that are too small for a complete project, but are too large
to not keep.“</i></p><p>Finished size is about 30 cm x 200 cm / 12 inches x 80 inches, so this
is not too big of a project either and makes for the perfect summer (or
vacation) knit.</p><p>To celebrate the release use code SORLEY on Ravelry to receive 20% off the pattern until May 22 2022. <b><i><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sorley" target="_blank">Hop over now</a></i></b> to the store and enjoy!</p><p>Please use #SorleyShawl and tag me @thedrizzleofhoney on Instagram when posting so I can see and share your beautiful project too.</p><p>Have an awesome week everyone!</p><p>Love,</p><p>Stefanie<br /></p>thedrizzleofhoneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01747688810599627449noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1347189839171269126.post-70929595374462203282022-04-08T13:49:00.000+02:002022-04-08T13:49:11.162+02:00News April 2022<div style="text-align: left;">Hi everyone!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">A lot is going on around here. So much so that I had to skip last month's news update.</div><div style="text-align: left;">Much behind the scenes work. As you may imagine knitting samples and pulishing patterns is just a small part of all the work that goes into a design until it is ready to be published. </div><div style="text-align: left;">But of course those are the most exciting parts of the process and the ones that are most interesting to post about. Whereas the not so interesting and "share-worthy" times include sitting in a bubble and designing, doing the math, writing up pattern drafts to knit a sample from and then refine and perfect until a pattern for testing is created, of course the test itself which usually takes several weeks and finally the last finalizing steps to get the pattern ready for publishing as well as creating all the materials and content that need to go with it. All those steps involve a lot of care, attention and love.<br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Besides that there's always a lot of behind the scenes that takes place in termes of running a business, especially since most of us are a one-woman-show.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">But let's get back to what's new!</div><div style="text-align: left;"> <br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">New pattern - Alora skirt<br /></h3><p>There is a new pattern available in <i><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/designers/stefanie-schuster" target="_blank">my Ravelry Store</a></i> - Alora!<br /></p><p> </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVTLW8X6sVXp_bFscrCx_LqISCGJz8P5bfsgyEU4GPlDmUM3xwzKkFGAcb1KCxLqwY3zjlvMT-G49lRtobnqv3mFz_KzlJVvXcKG18Mu3DtgkIhAkvEMOL4hEEvTI6SgpaN-vDrzLHpJvxwBAuFWYV6XvxMby72v4RFExtwKMoofMA4S1KXwdlbUXZ/s2967/IMG_20220303_151941_1-01.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2967" data-original-width="2120" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVTLW8X6sVXp_bFscrCx_LqISCGJz8P5bfsgyEU4GPlDmUM3xwzKkFGAcb1KCxLqwY3zjlvMT-G49lRtobnqv3mFz_KzlJVvXcKG18Mu3DtgkIhAkvEMOL4hEEvTI6SgpaN-vDrzLHpJvxwBAuFWYV6XvxMby72v4RFExtwKMoofMA4S1KXwdlbUXZ/w229-h320/IMG_20220303_151941_1-01.jpeg" width="229" /></a><p><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/purchase/the-drizzle-of-honey-knitwear/764093"><img border="0" src="http://www.ravelry.com/images/shopping/buy-now.gif" /></a> </p></div><p>If you are like me and like to wear your knitted pieces all year round, then this is one to consider for you: </p><p>Alora is a very feminine knee length skirt that uses negative
ease to create its flattering shape and accentuate your beauty. It’s
intended to be worn high at the waist and uses a pretty and simple knit and purl pattern for super relaxing knitting and a stretchy fabric
that allows for a very comfortable fit. <br />You can use any DK weight yarn you have in your stash and you will get the perfect not-too-hot-yet-not-too-cold skirt for in between seasons. Alora is available in seven sizes.<br /></p><p>You don't have to knit sweaters only. Personally, I appreciate a nice change from time to time. So why not knit a skirt for yourself? I promise you’ll be surprised by how wonderfully warm, beautiful and comfy you’ll feel. <br /></p><p>For more info on construction and sizing please see the <i><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/alora-2" target="_blank">pattern page</a></i>.</p><p>I am very happy to finally be able to offer a new skirt pattern for you. But no worries, I will catch up! </p><p style="text-align: left;">It will be a short sleeved, top-down, seamless, round yoke construction with a texture pattern in the yoke and stockinette body. I am already thrilled about the design. And it will be my first not free summer top. My other summer tops have been free patterns. It's so exciting to be able to do what I love - designing. And this year too I will strive to enrich your lives by providing you with gorgeous knit designs, addictive knitting experiences and beautiful self-made pieces in your wardrobe.</p><p>The question everyone asks as a year's going to end: What have you accomplished this year? I think we can all give ourselves a little compassion when asking this particular question. Because it has been another difficult year for everyone. That does include me too. </p><p>But I do have some things I am proud of myself for. <br />I am proud of having my pre-baby weight back after having three children. I didn't manage that after the first one, but I did now. That makes me very happy. I've been working out, so there's also more muscle which makes me feel great. I feel so much better with less weight, it gives me a new feeling of myself. <br />This also means I'm eating better which is also something I've been struggeling with when the twins were babies. They are 2 now, so they don't need as much all around the clock care as they did before. So there's more time for cooking :)<br />In an effort to focus a bit more on self care (because that's important as everyone with kids can confirm) and my own psychological health I made some adjustments. For example in an effort to watch less TV I've read 42 books last year, nearly all of them from my local library. (spend less money on books was a thing too) And this habbit sticks with me. I love it! I have always been a book reader but I lost it a little bit during the past years and I am very happy to have it back.<br />And of course I am very grateful to have found a way to be able to work again with all my boys at home. It's a challenge of course to work something out that works for everyone. And that's always our number one goal when changing something. It has to work for everyone in the family. And I think we are right on track. I'm proud of that.<br /></p><p>I hope you too have some things your are proud of yourself.</p><h3 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">New patterns</span></h3><p><b><u>EMBER</u></b></p><p>Three weeks ago I released <b><i><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ember-13" target="_blank">Ember hat</a></i></b>. I just loove this design!<br />If you're looking for a little variety from stockinette and garter stitch and are as fascinated by knitted texture as I am, then Ember hat is for you!</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjmFwoOKGLvrGLSNdMxVe5XH88S_mXqBrvUrBWgW_2S-M_2hI9Anw0fseqqknjxzEr4vKRhJAlZuSBdt0QIEuT2sdfL3uFXnjY98cE3EL38Y4fM0atperEfMht2lxscvKzte5IW_Y7_rzng_Srecddl49rzW9sG0Idxq8WElCg9H2eJ-dOy_hRuGGfw=s2423" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2423" data-original-width="2423" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjmFwoOKGLvrGLSNdMxVe5XH88S_mXqBrvUrBWgW_2S-M_2hI9Anw0fseqqknjxzEr4vKRhJAlZuSBdt0QIEuT2sdfL3uFXnjY98cE3EL38Y4fM0atperEfMht2lxscvKzte5IW_Y7_rzng_Srecddl49rzW9sG0Idxq8WElCg9H2eJ-dOy_hRuGGfw=s320" width="320" /></a><p> <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/purchase/the-drizzle-of-honey-knitwear/745534"><img border="0" src="http://www.ravelry.com/images/shopping/buy-now.gif" /></a></p></div><p></p><p>This hat is a gorgeous and cozy design that combines wonderfully rich texture with beautiful cables.
The pattern features big and small cables, bobbles as well as a mini
honeycomb pattern to complete the feminine design.</p><p>The pattern comes in three sizes: <br />Child (Adult small, Adult large) <br />to
fit 50(56, 60)cm / 20(22, 24) inches head circumference and can be
worked to make a beanie 20(22,22)cm / 8(9, 9) inches total length or
slouch 24(26,26)cm / 9.5(10.5; 10.5) inches total length. <br />To make an even slouchier hat, the pattern has notes on how to easily adapt.</p><p>And it's a perfect stash buster too, using only between 180-220m/197-240yards of sport or DK weight yarn. </p><p>Have a look at the pattern in my Ravelry store <b><i><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ember-13" target="_blank">here</a></i></b>!<br /></p><p><u><b><span style="font-size: medium;">EMBERLY</span></b></u><br /></p><p>Sharing the spirit - new year, new design, three days ago I also released <i><b><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/emberly-2" target="_blank">Emberly fingerless mitts</a></b></i> which are matching Ember for a set of the two.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhZn1nduXeOIUxSQnMCbw_WjFLn05n8W2zyR1_0QJQ2o3xS9_4aHMtPgi98bPIKJbc34fQczKtqq5CX1zP-VBknO7j4q3dqpwGXKg7zNjitvgIshj_2dVhYDtS75_UMLaSFGu_uiUt3a_bQgm0ppfFfpGx0scBR1oqTxCY7LOvFA-WQx8yzYiMOL3E3=s3648" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2736" data-original-width="3648" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhZn1nduXeOIUxSQnMCbw_WjFLn05n8W2zyR1_0QJQ2o3xS9_4aHMtPgi98bPIKJbc34fQczKtqq5CX1zP-VBknO7j4q3dqpwGXKg7zNjitvgIshj_2dVhYDtS75_UMLaSFGu_uiUt3a_bQgm0ppfFfpGx0scBR1oqTxCY7LOvFA-WQx8yzYiMOL3E3=s320" width="320" /></a> <br /><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/purchase/the-drizzle-of-honey-knitwear/748532"><img border="0" src="http://www.ravelry.com/images/shopping/buy-now.gif" /></a></div><p>I had the thought of designing matching fingerless mitts already when I started working on Ember. And I moved through with it, very happy that I did.</p><p>Emberly fingerless mitts are very cute and a creative and intriguing knit. By themselves or together with the hat they will add a stylish and feminine touch to your outfit.
</p><p>The pattern comes in three sizes: <br />Small (Medium, Large) <br />to fit 16(18, 20)cm / 6.5(7.25; 8) inches palm circumference <br />The pattern includes suggestions for you to personalize your mitts.</p>
<p>Using only between 90-120m/99-132 yards of sport or DK weight yarn it’s a perfect project to use your stash.</p><p> The set of hat and mitts is a great addictive knit based on the same rich texture. <br /></p><p> </p><p>Since this pattern is a new release, there's also the release promo still running until midnight January 9, 2022. Use code EMBERLY and get 20% off the pattern on Ravelry. <br />I have another offer running: If you buy Ember and Emberly together (put them both in your cart before check out) then you'll automatically receive Emberly 50% off.<br /></p><p>Check out the pattern in my Ravelry store <i><b><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/emberly-2" target="_blank">here</a></b></i>!<br /></p><p></p><h3 style="text-align: left;"><b>Moving forward, planning, new ideas, new designs</b></h3><p>During the last days of the year I've been thinking a lot about where I would like to go with my designs this year. Also I never got warm around their shop manager, it's just not for me somehow.</p><p>But of course there are a lot of alternatives out there to be explored and that's what I'm currently doing on the side. I'm looking for something where I can offer both: handknit patterns and my knitwear. Having another place besides Ravelry to sell my patterns is appealing for me too. Although you don't have to have a Ravelry account in order to buy patterns, I'm not sure everyone knows about that. </p><p>Another reason is I would like to have "my own store" as well. That's also why I don't want to use a platform like Etsy anymore.</p><p>Recently I have been looking into payhip. And I wanted to ask, do you have experiences with payhip? Good or bad, or any other services like that? Any recommendations or suggestions? <br /></p><p><i>Don't worry, my Ravelry store stays open, there is no better place for knitting in the world! </i></p><p><i> </i><br /></p><p>That's what wanted to share with you today. </p><p>I hope you're having a little winter wherever you are (if you are on the northern hemisphere). But I always prefer the cold to the wet rainy weather. </p><p><span title="Edited">And I always love when the first snow falls.
Everything gets a little brighter and the air smells so fresh and
clear... Of course, there's been A LOT of smaple knitting. Every free second I got from our wonderful little boys went into it. That is truly amazing. They are the first ones to work from it and even the first ones to link their finished project and may be featured on the pattern page once it's released. That just fills me with joy! <br />It's always an exciting and also nervous experience for me. I appreciate all the feedback I get from tests. Testers are in the front seat to making a pattern better with everything they have on their mind about it. May it be words of appreciation, comments or suggestions for improvement. I love to work it out. Together with the testers, ask them for their opinions and impressions. To create the best pattern for you all, so you can enjoy the process of knitting just as much as your finished project. <br />Test knitting is a very vital part of creating a design and shaping it into a pattern.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVLLAmOu5D2cTEhv_UiUzDXH0-oC4f0Hmt9YR_YqQS5u4-qF1LuDlB0guWFgxbxJtafHh-sHkoRag7GTqnsoGgLiOxTQs76jvH0_jxoJNrbe7UwsJrf5vox1bnWWdg_9Yx2_PGk6fEkHQ/s2048/IMG_20211017_140554-01.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVLLAmOu5D2cTEhv_UiUzDXH0-oC4f0Hmt9YR_YqQS5u4-qF1LuDlB0guWFgxbxJtafHh-sHkoRag7GTqnsoGgLiOxTQs76jvH0_jxoJNrbe7UwsJrf5vox1bnWWdg_9Yx2_PGk6fEkHQ/w150-h200/IMG_20211017_140554-01.jpeg" width="150" /></a></div><p><span>As for the pattern, I have put some thought
into changing the layout a bit too. I hope you'll like it. I thought this would be a good time to change things up a bit and
hopefully make it even easier for you to work with my patterns. Because
(to me) knitting always is about having fun and relaxing while doing it. So I
always try to make everything easy to understand and to provide good
structure in the pattern so you can quickly find what you're looking
for.</span></p><h3 style="text-align: left;"><span>How to video <br /></span></h3><p>There's another first time with this design and pattern: For the first time I'm providing a short video that you can go to to see how to make a specific and maybe a little challenging stitch if you're making it for the first time.<br />It's for one of the bobble stitches in the design, the popcorn stitch. I don't want to get into too much detail at this point. If you're following me on Instagram you've probably seen it already. <br />Otherwise, you can find it <span style="color: #0066cc;"><b><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CVTna9soiRn/" target="_blank">HERE</a></b></span>. And don't forget to hit <i>follow </i>if you haven't yet! <span>❤️</span></p><h3 style="text-align: left;"><span>Mousey hats <br /></span></h3><p><span>In between there needs to be a little time for some fun-knitting here and there. This time I made two mouse hats for our twins. </span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOLkaouH4wu3Z_YNS0G98UIGbfhXT-DGE2jPmJN9JW8g5dqXTdi27YYbC129F51846QWqNN93YNbIPsBGTFMAi9YC4VmZrSsUbrP3fof0RMJ4xtXgaTzXsL2Ex6RM_tMPWRtk82WQ9VWo/s2048/IMG_20211010_160226-01.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOLkaouH4wu3Z_YNS0G98UIGbfhXT-DGE2jPmJN9JW8g5dqXTdi27YYbC129F51846QWqNN93YNbIPsBGTFMAi9YC4VmZrSsUbrP3fof0RMJ4xtXgaTzXsL2Ex6RM_tMPWRtk82WQ9VWo/w150-h200/IMG_20211010_160226-01.jpeg" width="150" /></a></div><span title="Edited"><span>I already made a fox hat two years ago which still is very popular. The hats are all perfect for toddlers, using short rows to shape ears. This provides the poper fit for little heads and ears.<br />As for the mouse hats, I like how the small faces turned out. I'm very
happy to have found those different buttons for the noses. All the
buttons are from second hand. <br />To shape the mouths in a different
color I used intarsia technique. The ears are worked seperately after
finishing the actual hat (using duplicate stitch for blue) and were then
sewn onto the hat. I recommend using markers before starting to sew so
they will be straight. <br />I'm very happy with the hats, with all three
actually. I always loved the fox one too. Now they are our three little
wild ones whenever we go somewhere...</span></span><p></p><p><span title="Edited"><span>You can find my Ravelry project page <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/projects/drizzleofhoney/garter-ear-flap-hat-3" target="_blank">here</a>.<br /></span></span></p><h3 style="text-align: left;"><span title="Edited"><span>Looking forward to this month - New design(s), pattern release <br /></span></span></h3><p><span>It is getting

As you may know, our little boy became a big brother of twin boys :) We're enjoying every second of this wonderful adventure, and an adventure it is! They are so much fun (and also a lot of work). And with last year's pandemic everything went up and down a lot, so I had to stay on leave a bit longer than initially planned. But now I am back at work again, designing and creating patterns for you. ♥</p><p>So, what happened so far in the last month?!</p><h3 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">New design: Aruna Shawl</span><br /></h3><p>Well, first of all I'm up to my ears in a new design, Aruna Shawl.</p><p><span class="">It's going to be a lovely crescent shawl for this fall/winter season featuring very rich texture and an eye catching border. </span></p><p><span class=""></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ7m4l_hGHv1j1ceMWpOaKB8T4CgSf43ipc4c2_Vqt1Wad9pW8z6SOJCIst8wRG54RHL8mG7M-fN4ZalKCstyzzMHuFSTRVEkrXe8A5fdX0h8Bher4vNK8j964RTCPR7fIhrTcf7mXcxw/s752/ArunaSketch.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="751" data-original-width="752" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ7m4l_hGHv1j1ceMWpOaKB8T4CgSf43ipc4c2_Vqt1Wad9pW8z6SOJCIst8wRG54RHL8mG7M-fN4ZalKCstyzzMHuFSTRVEkrXe8A5fdX0h8Bher4vNK8j964RTCPR7fIhrTcf7mXcxw/w200-h200/ArunaSketch.png" width="200" /></a></div><br />Right now I'm working on the sample. This is one of my favorit parts of designing<span class=""><span class="">. Slowly seeing how it all comes together and the idea you have in your head becomes reality. <br />And oh do I looove that body texture! It's
so beautiful and rich. I like to squeeze it in my hands from time to time. I tried a lot of different kinds of textures for
this design until I fell in love with this one. The combination of
garter ridges, slip stitches and mini bobbles I'm using for the body of
the shawl is just magical.<br /><br /></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidtuCX-dNiR5GQ7L2wEDRZlyM0xq2ve6qWE1ZQtkQMGCORY5gIzpNVYM-HE7aLycU4hn7rz7r4tsQ3dktJJuAFgaJAJB4WrDfmmCZnCr6h7nXNakJC2TUGyJDggfGVCU3mzqHV1-A4b4E/s717/ArunaSampleknit.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="717" data-original-width="688" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidtuCX-dNiR5GQ7L2wEDRZlyM0xq2ve6qWE1ZQtkQMGCORY5gIzpNVYM-HE7aLycU4hn7rz7r4tsQ3dktJJuAFgaJAJB4WrDfmmCZnCr6h7nXNakJC2TUGyJDggfGVCU3mzqHV1-A4b4E/s320/ArunaSampleknit.png" width="307" /></a></div></span><br /><span class=""><span class=""><span class="">I have been working on finalising the
border chart too. So the sample knit can enter the next stage and I can make
sure everything works smoothly. It is a bit of a larger repeat that's going to be worked but I am always striving to give you a great knitting experience as well as a wonderful piece to wear, so I made sure to spilt the border in different charts for you to work from. I've also decided to work with stitchmastery from now on for creating my charts. And it has been wonderful for this one. As with any new software or app, you have to get used to it at first but I found the process relatively straight forward. I'm very happy with my decision on that one.<br /></span></span></span><p></p><p><span class=""><span class=""><span class=""></span></span></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2bDG2_xxELucnVV1wrt6cXm6FWDyaKo8f_C4NocU_W2DeXtP6Vp0YW24pNj8Tx9LYiRKF27zUcPWQU8SiAppr0DL65GIobOCcjUzdakxe_pk2qsz8gemzqXNjrIT3itt8tke5jOpStkE/s746/ArunaChartwork.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="746" data-original-width="745" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2bDG2_xxELucnVV1wrt6cXm6FWDyaKo8f_C4NocU_W2DeXtP6Vp0YW24pNj8Tx9LYiRKF27zUcPWQU8SiAppr0DL65GIobOCcjUzdakxe_pk2qsz8gemzqXNjrIT3itt8tke5jOpStkE/s320/ArunaChartwork.png" width="320" /></a></div>As there are two different kinds of bobbles used in the Aruna design and I always want you to feel confident when working from my patterns, I want to support you by showing you how to work those bobbles. I myself find seeing a stitch being worked in a video often easier than the long descriptions that follow with that kind of stitch. So I am preparing videos to go with the pattern for you as well. This is a first time for me. And it's very exciting. <p></p><p><span class=""><span class=""><span class="">I am having so much fun in working on this design so far, so I really hope you all are going to like it just as much as I do!</span></span> </span></p><h3 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The Drizzle of Honey Knitwear group on Ravelry</span><br /></h3><p>There is now The Drizzle Of Honey Knitwear group now on Ravelry! You can share your WIPs, FOs and thoughts on my designs, chat with others, ask questions. All the Ravelry related news, like patterns releases and test knit calls will be be there from now on too.</p><p>Since we're already talking about it, of course soon there will be a test knit for Aruna Shawl of course. I will post a test call in the group as well as on Instagram when the pattern is ready to be tested. The test will then be hosted in my group on Ravelry. I'm really looking forward to that! Test knits are always fun, I love getting your feedback before a release so the pattern can be at its best. And then there's always the reward of seeing all those fabulous FOs!<br /></p><p>The group is very new and so far it's naturally a little bit quiet still, but it all takes time to give it a start, so I would be very happy if you <b><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/groups/the-drizzle-of-honey-knitwear" target="_blank">hop over and join</a></b>! </p><p><br /></p><p>Those are the news I wanted to share with you. I have some really great news today! I will be at Östgötadgarna 2019! <br />
<br />
-New July update is here!-<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
This post is a very special post. Because it will never be finished, kind of.<br />
I'd like to update this post from time to time and add some new infos and progress updates on the way to Östgötadagarna 2019.<br />
I hope you'll like this kind of post, I'm trying something new here, and enjoy accompanying me on my journey.<br />
<br />
<h2>
<u>Update July 2019</u></h2>
<br />
What a busy month July was...but I still somehow managed to sqeeze in a little bit of vacation time with my family :) After all, it was summer and I deserved a little vacation - and they did too! :)<br />
<br />
If you're following me on <i><b><a href="https://www.instagram.com/thedrizzleofhoney/" target="_blank">Instagram</a></b></i> you may have noticed that I have spend a lot of time on finalizing my booth. I have been very creative and crafted everything myself using a lot of felt cloth. The result really speaks for itself. Everything came out even better than I had in mind. That has been very motivating. Of course as the day of the event gets closer, you get more excited but more anxious as well. Thousands of thoughts cross your mind and all of a sudden there seem to be even more details that you haven't thought about but need your attention. (like that picture to the left: my man wanted to put all the letters together that I had worked on for two days and ended up messing up the piece of yarn on top, I was so excited I took a picture of it and proudly posted it on social media and only then I saw the flaw... no worries, everything is corrected and I wasn't even mad - he's just as excited about this big step as I am and those things are what trials are for :) )<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMpRguWUXv94b8nSZJncL1ju2GUKTgp720qyA3lvFCXcfCJTSHmx9I7qI75sfRjf-U1rRxIVMZXMNYwkJ_9gOCtHjjZikOU2tsJjVAW4Et38IzoTZe_pHBWyQr2e8wO0-uHRJHLvxH3jE/s1600/IMG_20190806_073156.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMpRguWUXv94b8nSZJncL1ju2GUKTgp720qyA3lvFCXcfCJTSHmx9I7qI75sfRjf-U1rRxIVMZXMNYwkJ_9gOCtHjjZikOU2tsJjVAW4Et38IzoTZe_pHBWyQr2e8wO0-uHRJHLvxH3jE/s200/IMG_20190806_073156.jpg" width="150" /></a></div>
There will also be a trial run of building up my booth as a whole this week. I am really looking forward to see all of the things finally come together and see if they can keep the promise they made me ;)<br />
Because you know... you always have that great vision in your mind that you then try to create in reality. <br />
<br />
So the final weeks are approaching and I am all up in last details and also still finalzing patterns for you to buy as kits. Strangely enough the less time there is left the more ideas that want to be realized pop into my head. I'll see how many of them I can get to. Of course I always only offer you the best of quality of all my products, so if something doesn't match those expectations it doesn't make the cut.<br />
<br />
So looking forward to see you all :D<br />
<br />
Love,<br />
Stefanie<br />

<h2>
<u>Update May/ June 2019</u></h2>
<br />
The past months have been very busy ones for me. There is a lot to prepare and think of if you're doing an event like this for the first time. But it's also very exciting :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRurqIVntlLfpp5ChWOqkVkuAlUXA854Mf_wQj_Qxkg2am3Gb-ZE_vkXIczskIOrIY3bda2Ajx86eccMnoLgiBsi3AinQPdO-ttAmosG9wYOEGzMhI8YW3fVWik0wAhWxe15CHU5BjQMU/s1600/%25C3%2596D2019Post.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1368" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRurqIVntlLfpp5ChWOqkVkuAlUXA854Mf_wQj_Qxkg2am3Gb-ZE_vkXIczskIOrIY3bda2Ajx86eccMnoLgiBsi3AinQPdO-ttAmosG9wYOEGzMhI8YW3fVWik0wAhWxe15CHU5BjQMU/s320/%25C3%2596D2019Post.jpg" width="273" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I've been thinking about how to arrange my booth, what to offer and show you all and spent a lot of time organizing. Now the big things are done. I have a booth and some pretty charming decorations for you to feel welcome and loved. Because it's very important to me that you do when visiting me. Knitting is all about relaxing and being cozy and in harmony with yourself. And I want to give you those feelings when you're here spending time with me and visiting my booth.<br />
<br />
I will also offer yarn for you to buy along with my beautiful patterns (or on its own if you'd like to) and right now I am working on ready-to-wear knitted designs.<br />
One more word about the patterns: I will offer patterns that you can already find in my Ravelry store as well as new patterns. And for the first time they will be available in Swedish as well. I haven't done this before, so this is big for me and I am very proud. I hope you'll appreciate them.<br />
<br />
Of course there are lots of other things to remember and take care of. Like payment (check :) ) or packaging (check :) ). So I have been working a lot but I have also been forced to take a break in between. This has a wonderful reason though.<br />
I am so so happy to share the news with all of you: Our little boy is going to be a big brother because we are having twins! Yay!! ♥♥<br />
Never ever would I have thought that I would have twins some day, but here we are ;) We are very happy and proud to be given this wonderful experience that not so many can share. It really is a special time for us.<br />

<h2>
<u><b>Update April 2019</b></u></h2>
<br />
Today I'd like to share some general info. <br />
<br />
Östgötadagarna is a regional event within the Östergötland county in Sweden. This event encourages people to visit the beautiful countryside and see its diversity in nature and get to know local businesses and what they have to offer.<br />
During the first weekend in September a lot of farmers invite to guided tours of their farms to show their work and their animals and give an opportunity to taste and buy their own produce, like cheese or meat. But also a lot of art galleries, antique stores and museums host open houses during this special weekend.<br />
Every year about 170 businesses take part and open their doors for over 100 000 visitors to explore and experience.<br />
<br />
And this year I will too! I'm so excited!<br />
But where can you find me?<br />
<br />
I will be at <b><i><a href="https://www.google.com/maps/place/Hejtorps+G%C3%A5rdsmejeri/@58.6496772,15.8256441,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xd9df299102994df2!8m2!3d58.6496772!4d15.8256441" target="_blank">Hejtorp's Goat Farm</a></i></b> with my own booth. You won't miss me :)<br />
If you want to know more about the farm and their exqisite cheeses you can find their site <i><b><a href="https://www.hejtorp.se/" target="_blank">here </a></b></i>(in Swedish).<br />
<br />
As I already mentioned, Östgötadagarna always take place during the first weekend of September, so this year it will be <b>7-8 September</b>. Just like the farm, I will be there for you <b>10am to 4pm</b>.<br />
So far I have planned (and am working on) to offer knitting patterns (this time in Swedish as well!) and yarn which you can buy as a kit, as well as ready-to-wear knitwear and accessories designed and produced in my studio.<br />
So, if you're arround, come and say hello and see my wonderful designs!<br />
I'm looking forward to meet you! :)<br />
<br />
Love,<br />

<i>Daylight Shawl</i> is a lofty triangular shawl that brings four
different colors together and combines them using beautiful texture and
light slipped stitch elements to create airy goodness to wrap yourself
in.<br />
Its textures use different slip stitch techniques as well as relaxing
moss stitch. I-cord bind off brings a nice finish to this wonderfully
light and drapey shawl that surely will brighten up your day.<br />
Feel free to play with colors or work with natural tones, you won’t
be disappointed by their interactions within the structures and
patterns. Or why not dive for some left overs to use as main colors,
because they don’t need as much yarn. Get creative and play with some colors to compose your very own lifter-of-spirits.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
When I designed this shawl, I had an irresistable need in my body for some color and for trying out some color and stitch combinations. I started designing this one in the last days of 2018. So it was December and it was cold and dark and I wanted to create something that will lift your spirit and brighten your mood when knitting and when wearing this design. Slipped stitches are always fun to knit, so they come to you wearing different faces in this pattern. While the relaxing moss stitch sections will calm you down in between. <br />
Designing and sample knitting always soothe my mind while at the same time making it fly. I'm so happy to be able to share all that with you.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG81oLfFyyyMo2FyFRUsVr3QhxT-pp8S6asJ_egKRvEpnyfKGfbL67DclmrsLmnq-Y4U_dS-UkeAWHTl8hX9vqnoEiBU9EfHnMz-F_4QMJ9oM0nsMqetnRhGwxFkJhCSxIAE3xzmHKZ-Q/s1600/DSC01523.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1511" data-original-width="1600" height="302" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG81oLfFyyyMo2FyFRUsVr3QhxT-pp8S6asJ_egKRvEpnyfKGfbL67DclmrsLmnq-Y4U_dS-UkeAWHTl8hX9vqnoEiBU9EfHnMz-F_4QMJ9oM0nsMqetnRhGwxFkJhCSxIAE3xzmHKZ-Q/s320/DSC01523.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
But now let's get a bit more technical:<br />
<br />
<u>Yarn requirements: </u><br />
You will need round about 700m/765yds of fingering weight yarn in total.<br />
<br />
CC: about 280m/ 306yds, <br />
MC1: about 70m / 77yds, <br />
MC2: about 160m / 175yds, <br />
MC3: about 220m / 240yds of fingering weight yarn.<br />
<br />
The shown sample
is made in Manos Del Uruguay Alegria (Fondo Del mar - CC), Garnstudio
Drops Baby Merino (21 black - MC1, 22 light grey - MC2, 02 off white
MC3).<br />
<br />
<br />
<u>Gauge</u> is not crucial for this project. You should have fun knitting this shawl. Choose your favorite yarn and colors and just get to work, let your mind flow... If you want to know, the gauge is 23sts/24rows = 10cm/4“ in moss stitch on 4mm/US6 needles after blocking.<br />
If you happen to knit at a tighter gauge, your shawl will come out a little bit smaller than specified. On the other hand, if you happen to knit at a slightly looser gauge, you might end up with a slightly larger shawl.<br />
But then again, you can always block your shawl more or less agressively depending on your preference. Although I do not recommend to block this design too aggressive because this will distort the slipped stitch sections.<br />
<br />
<u>Finished size: </u><br />
about 160 x 115 x 200 cm / 64 x 46 x 80 inches<br />
<br />
<u>Instructions:</u> <br />
The pattern includes fully written instructions.<br />
If you have bought previous patterns from me, you might know the schematic instructions. Those are unfortunately <i>not </i>included in this specific pattern. <br />
<br />
<u>Skill level:</u> <br />
This pattern is a great project for
the advanced beginner that seeks a new skill. The shawl starts with 4
stitches at the bottom and increases on one side as you knit along. <br />
Testknitter
silkenswift mentioned that the used techniques in the pattern are “Good
for someone who wants to practice stranding before having to manage two
colors per row for fair isle knitting”.<br />
And I think she's absolutely right. I haven't thought of this when designing the shawl, but since you're only handling one strand of yarn (or one color) at a time, you're still creating the lovely illusion of fair isle, this is perfect to practice if you've been intimidated by that technique and are ready to make one step towards it. It's simply the wonder of slipped stitches :)<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
Speaking of testknitting: This is one of my favorite parts when working on a new design. I am always grateful to find some knitters that want to help me make my patterns perfect. You truly are the best!<br />
It's so exciting to see which yarn and colors you choose, to follow your progress and to hear what you think along the way. I love to add your improvements and follow up on your suggestions. Every testknit is also very educational and informative for me. I want you to have the best knitting experience with my patterns (and of course a happier day when wearing your FO!).<br />
Without you my patterns wouldn't be what they could be - smooth to work with for you. I always value the feedback I'm getting from testers. For the pattern that they are currently testing as well as for future patterns.<br />
It's important for me to take in all the feedback and learn from it to improve my work. Because I'm designing and wrinting my patterns for you, your opinion is most important to me. So thank you for your help testers!<br />
<br />
Ok, I think that's it for today, I can't wait to see if you like Daylight Shawl :) <br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
As always: Be sure to use #daylightshawl or #thedrizzleofhoney when posting on social media, so we can all see your wonderful project!<br />
<br />
One last matter: I would like to start sharing your projects and the pictures of your progress and FOs on social media from time to time. So if you use those hashtags, I assume you are ok with that. If not, you can always pm me or email me at stefanie@thedrizzleofhoney.com (the same goes for pattern questions btw) to let me know.<br />
It really makes me happy to see your wonderful projects and I'd like to share this joy. <br />
<br />
<br />
Happy knitting!<br />

February is almost gone, and I have big plans for this year, for this blog and for my business.<br />

We have had a very nice winter this year. But now the snow has melted, the wind slowly becomes warmer and the temperatures rise again. With this comes some inner urge and uprising energy for new things, to really get going and make things happen! Don't you feel that way too when spring peeks around the corner?<br />
That's exactly the mood I've been in for the last week or so.<br />
<br />
Today I want to share with you my plans and thoughts for the upcoming year. I had a lot of time to think during my maternity leave where I want to go with my business and my design work.<br />
<br />
The first big thing is that I want to fill this blog with new life again. It has been neglected for a long time, which I hate and also never intended to do. But with the new (my first) baby (what a change after being a couple for 15 years), new routines, well, a new life (sounds silly but that's exactly what it is, a new never known life that needs a lot of adjustment and compromise, I also eat more chocolate now :) ) I simply had to prioritize. Very much. I guess all of you with a family know exactly what I'm talking about. <br />
However, I want to change this blog's face and tone. I've also grown up, I've left 30 behind me now and I want this blog and my business to reflect that.<br />
<br />
To be a bit more specific, I'm planning to write posts about things like<br />
- how I work, what my process looks like (in designing my patterns as well as machine knit items for my Etsy Store)<br />
- share news about new designs, upcoming and ongoing testknits, new and upcoming patterns, generel updates, new Etsy listings, promotions I'm running, aso)<br />
- my plans and my struggles<br />
- my thoughts, what moves me, what motivates me, what sucks my energy<br />
- share big and small successes or failures with you<br />
<br />
Simply put, I want to use the opportunity that this blog gives me to enable you to get to know me as you are the biggest and most important part of my work. I would like to let you be part of my journey. <br />
So you can get to know me, Stefanie, the person behind The Drizzle of Honey Knitwear.<br />
<br />
I strive to be real with you along the way because I would like to be closer to you too. After all I create my designs for you, my work revolves around you, lovely knitters and shoppers.<br />
<br />
<br />
Let me know what you think about my plans in the commentaries.<br />
<br />
Love,<br />
Stefanie <br />

<br />
Wow, it's been a long time...<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
But you know, I took a baby break. YES! We have a cute little baby boy now!!<br />
He's just the best <3 I couldn't imagine life without him anymore. He turned 1 in September, so now he's in pre school and I am back to work.<br />
<br />
SOOOOO.... I've also been very busy. There are going to be a few changes around here on the blog.<br />
Because the blog really needs a fresh face and because I do now not only sell <i><b><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/designers/stefanie-schuster" target="_blank">patterns on Ravelry</a></b></i>, but I've recently opened <i><b><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/thedrizzleofhoney" target="_blank">my own Etsy Store</a></b></i> as well!!<br />
I'm soo excited! There are only a few items on there right now, but I will add additional items in the next time. There's soo much to do! Anyone of you who has an Etsy store themselves might know.But I am so happy! This is a very big step for me!<br />
<br />
At the same time I have so many new design ideas that want out of my head, that I can't wait to start working on a new pattern design as well. This all really stocks up inside one's head when you're taking a break. <br />
<br />
So like our little one, this was short and sweet :)<br />
And I hope to see you all around here more often now.<br />
<br />
XOXO, Stefanie :)thedrizzleofhoneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01747688810599627449noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1347189839171269126.post-80363761064054310502017-06-19T15:52:00.001+02:002019-02-28T13:15:36.529+01:00New Design - Wind & Waves Shawl<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I'm very happy to announce that my new design the gorgeous Wind & Waves summer shawl is now <b><i><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wind--waves-shawl" target="_blank">available on Ravelry for download</a></i></b>!<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq2t11_JDeG-Rr-wkJ4B3un5lyjYD-CAU3YaMok347ZIFeSBwJKeSWS_IwJxA7HOrfFnjgrmAzvNBPnjOcOoPh-by0d_QaJGlHz_g31KCYRVr66O5_S1iiZ5XrBh143wHo4PevSxrpkSM/s1600/DSC00418_PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="838" height="229" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq2t11_JDeG-Rr-wkJ4B3un5lyjYD-CAU3YaMok347ZIFeSBwJKeSWS_IwJxA7HOrfFnjgrmAzvNBPnjOcOoPh-by0d_QaJGlHz_g31KCYRVr66O5_S1iiZ5XrBh143wHo4PevSxrpkSM/s320/DSC00418_PM.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Let me start off the summer feeling with a brand new and beautiful design: Wind & Waves Shawl<br />
<br />
This wonderfully long shawl is shaped asymmetrically in a free form that's knitted in the bias from the bottom up.<br />
Bias knitting is always a pleasure. And knitting the shawl bottom up is perfect for you if find yourself getting a little bit bored with 300+ stitches on one row like there are in crescent shaped shawls, because it keeps the rows rather short and you can see your project grow much faster.<br />
<br />
<br />
To knit Wind & Waves, you'll need fingering weight yarn in two different colors:<br />
Color A: about 350-380m/ 383-416yds (Garnstudio Drops Baby Merino in 02 ivory in the pictured sample), and<br />
Color B: about 320-350m / 350-383yds (Malabrigo Sock in 474 caribeno in the sample shown)<br />
Or get insppired by the <b><i><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wind--waves-shawl/yarns" target="_blank">yarns others have used</a></i></b> for their projects so far.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfF7Y3OljSV4xr73wH4M8YSaq3uAvOpaNem95GQP9I2vsViQGLLXtKCXJRsEh8ec6dg796YsPs0qZUf-t271l-Skuy6XgFRtCxBNrzspBGtFrk4PKq3e1Yp93xxXGnulLf5Qa2aaTXDO8/s1600/DSC00346_PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="586" data-original-width="732" height="256" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfF7Y3OljSV4xr73wH4M8YSaq3uAvOpaNem95GQP9I2vsViQGLLXtKCXJRsEh8ec6dg796YsPs0qZUf-t271l-Skuy6XgFRtCxBNrzspBGtFrk4PKq3e1Yp93xxXGnulLf5Qa2aaTXDO8/s320/DSC00346_PM.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The testkitters LOVED the shawl! And they also loved the schematic instructions which are (besides fully written instructions) also included with the pattern. In fact, the schematic instructions have always been a favorite for everyone working with my patterns.<br />
What's special about this kind of instructions is that you can (if you want to) work the entire pattern from one page only. On this page, a schematic drawing of the design is provided, along with shortened written instructions.<br />
It's perfect for you if you love working from charts and don't like to read a lot of text while knitting or like to find where you are in the pattern in an instant. Because that's exactly what the schematic instructions are for. They allow you to instantly see how the design is constructed, to start knitting immediately and always see where you are right now in just a second.<br />
The pattern for Wind & Waves shawl includes the schematic instructions on a single printer friendly b/w page.<br />

So, choose two of your favorite fingering yarn skeins and feel how the pattern flows.<br />
Wind & Waves combines rich texture, lovely stripes and airy garter stitch. The balance between very light lace sections, gentle texture sections and a little more fluffy garter stripes create a wonderful drapey fabric that you'll love! For an even lighter and softer drape, use light fingering weight yarn.<br />
<br />
Wind & Waves shawl is simply wonderful for cool summer breezes or covering your shoulders to protect them from the sun. The perfect feel-good and stylish accessory for your summer outfit.<br />

Spring is just around the corner! This means it's time for the new Spring + Summer issue of Knitty.<br />
And my new design Lycka is in it!<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7NgWFCMc5fVXHhM1TCwCQaT1VbPisuwWJ2vwabtTnrb3vz8LSiwBySnCbDoWTY3rarU-ok-6uUEFEhxA_4Sa6FJ6T2lkrs3E_REW1K6seenZE0UxqCl5eBgxylifq3PNaNenEUryVaiY/s1600/DSC01522_PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7NgWFCMc5fVXHhM1TCwCQaT1VbPisuwWJ2vwabtTnrb3vz8LSiwBySnCbDoWTY3rarU-ok-6uUEFEhxA_4Sa6FJ6T2lkrs3E_REW1K6seenZE0UxqCl5eBgxylifq3PNaNenEUryVaiY/s320/DSC01522_PM.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Nearly a year ago, I designed this very lovely cotton tee with simple straight lines and some extra postive ease to wear on warmer days.<br />
<br />
Inspired by the partial shadow of a roof of leaves, I added a wonderful and unique rib lace pattern to the front. It extends the v-neck shape to create a feminine and flattering look.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4fHNsFHmz2cZ8ixnTZcn8R6nilWUOnbvk4v3K_lFrFegnJASRjpXchZ0MiMSBrV8TyekuFiWuLAN-qdoFp29ATmb8zVRmxrb4F5grVTIZ9ecNzZiGeIOcSj9Gettm3faK_7vyKBChAbc/s1600/DSC01437_PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4fHNsFHmz2cZ8ixnTZcn8R6nilWUOnbvk4v3K_lFrFegnJASRjpXchZ0MiMSBrV8TyekuFiWuLAN-qdoFp29ATmb8zVRmxrb4F5grVTIZ9ecNzZiGeIOcSj9Gettm3faK_7vyKBChAbc/s320/DSC01437_PM.jpg" width="295" /></a></div>
<br />
The rounded back adds a little softness to the look.<br />
<br />
A few words on the construction:<br />
Lycka is knitted flat from the bottom up in two pieces. The sleeves
are formed by casting on additional stitches once the underarm is
reached.<br />
The rounded back is shaped by using short rows and the back
neck uses a tiny i-cord bind off. <br />
Front and back are knitted separately and are then joined at the
shoulders using the three-needle bind off. Finally, the sides are seamed
together.<br />
<br />
Lycka uses a variety of techniques, which makes knitting it a very interesting experience that rewards you with a very soft and comfy summer
wardrobe staple and maybe some new knitting skills.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivIbYIGh0XI6zKyN6NWF9JOqN1hwcx3-Gz1vMCLtoekCfzUHVsBvbXUvk_CWO2NMC6izOlMUXIra8gDwYRF8C8XotwHvp6Yyu95VOjKJUrLz4zhXg9HAsuHvSeh_gnTZrPgrgV-4anJ7E/s1600/DSC01598_PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivIbYIGh0XI6zKyN6NWF9JOqN1hwcx3-Gz1vMCLtoekCfzUHVsBvbXUvk_CWO2NMC6izOlMUXIra8gDwYRF8C8XotwHvp6Yyu95VOjKJUrLz4zhXg9HAsuHvSeh_gnTZrPgrgV-4anJ7E/s320/DSC01598_PM.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
The lace in the front lets Lycka be very light and airy while allowing any soft breeze through to you. A generous v-neck and short sleeves let your skin breathe and feel the warmth of the sun. <br />
<br />
If you're already browsing for some summer knits, make sure Lycka is on top of your list!<br />
<br />
You can find the <b><i><a href="http://knitty.com/ISSUEss17/PATTlycka/PATTlycka.php" target="_blank">free pattern in the current Spring + Summer issue of Knitty</a></i></b>.<br />
<br />
All the infos (sizes, yarn requirements, needle size and finished measurements) are of course available on the <b><i><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lycka" target="_blank">Ravelry pattern page</a></i></b>. So, hop over to favorite or add the pattern to your queue on Ravelry!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I'm very happy and thankful to be given the opportunity of being published in Knitty.<br />
I was really nervous when I submitted Lycka. Not only to be sure
everything needed was included, but also will my design be good enough, or rather one that they are looking for in this issue. Are my
pictures good enough to be published, beause you never know about the competition. But I knew I did my best and I had worked hard with this design and so I
took a deep breath and hit "submit".<br />
And just before Christmas the email saying "You're in!" arrived. Perfect timing! :)<br />
At the beginning of this year a little more work had to be done to finalise everything and really get it polished and ready to be published.<br />
A great experience and hopefully the beginning of an exciting adventure. :)<br />
<br />
<br />
I wish you all a wonderful week!<br />

<br />
Christmas knitting happened on my knitting machine this year! :)<br />
I made a big triangular shawl for my grandma and a black oversized sweater for myself. <br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>But before I start, I want to wish you all a happy and healthy new year for you and your families!! I hope you've enjoyed the holidays. <br />
<br />
This is my first blog post this year and I would like to show you two of my latest machine knitting adventures.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiOIlS7iyd59uO0ej_pDHchXGLLPEQKfkr_ojTK94ck5jLA5Wpe8DTPt0Dz3o5P3K9IckJWSSni1YXz03nvMlrbENVrQvVvUvvUBL76dHJsmqur4MI58z5wGwBVWqsozCOPM-g4A-P7vI/s1600/DSC00658_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiOIlS7iyd59uO0ej_pDHchXGLLPEQKfkr_ojTK94ck5jLA5Wpe8DTPt0Dz3o5P3K9IckJWSSni1YXz03nvMlrbENVrQvVvUvvUBL76dHJsmqur4MI58z5wGwBVWqsozCOPM-g4A-P7vI/s400/DSC00658_1.jpg" width="257" /></a>The first one is a <b>big triangular shawl</b> that I made <b>for my grandma</b> for Christmas. I gifted her a <b><i><a href="http://thedrizzleofhoney.blogspot.se/2015/01/asymmetric-alpaca-shawl.html">hand knitted one</a></i></b> two years ago. She loved it so much, and my mom always said she wears it a lot. So, I thought this year she should have a new one.<br />
I wanted to try and make a triangular shawl on my knitting machine for some time. This was the perfect opportunity to actually do it!<br />
The shawl consists of two triangles that have alternating wide stripes of stockinette and a slip stitch pattern. Down the middle of the shawl they're seamed and then I added a garter border by hand to it. (I really need a transfer carriage for my machine soon, because I absolutely love garter stitch!)<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQF40wLm5dobNWC2U_qxWTmJOEx8hL38Q28w-bSTTcrEzlwZZnYEh0DFby5lxeiY_Q6FEEN98WE4xLk6MtLhq5qZzQ9dUfa5KjL8FvFQhsEPESZ3wCD1jy5u430NxnrYrSQXBpAbfv2nk/s1600/15306788_1187941537960337_2968609858019917824_n_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQF40wLm5dobNWC2U_qxWTmJOEx8hL38Q28w-bSTTcrEzlwZZnYEh0DFby5lxeiY_Q6FEEN98WE4xLk6MtLhq5qZzQ9dUfa5KjL8FvFQhsEPESZ3wCD1jy5u430NxnrYrSQXBpAbfv2nk/s200/15306788_1187941537960337_2968609858019917824_n_medium2.jpg" width="200" /></a>For this project I used Drops 100% alpaca yarn, a fingering yarn. The color is called aqua grey mix (7323). At first I wasn't sure about the color, it was either this one or the yellow green (7233).<br />
I didn't have many problems when knitting the shawl, everything went relatively smooth. So it really was a wonderful and relaxing knit. <br />
<br />
The best part was adding the border by hand though. It was shortly after the new season of Gilmore Girls came out on Netflix. So, in the spirit of Christmas and because I really needed a little break, I took a day off and binge watched the new season while sitting in front of the fire place and knitting the garter border onto grandmas shawl. I can tell you: I was in relaxing heaven!! And I still have this relaxing and deeply warm feeling when I think about the shawl. I hope my grandma can feel this love and joy that I felt when knitting the shawl when she wears it.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimwtVdupEwm8lHeN9PxwYdaEQo9XP-n6U1yb_YW3m6xaiwLvZU5tvN4ZxST2v0LVzLPXJP65Z925_tRMpodI12TDZoPaE0eDmmBQKYv63vd4YEonpCwEiB2dx_Vv8tYiXZCT-OXwvRHLk/s1600/DSC00670_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="273" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimwtVdupEwm8lHeN9PxwYdaEQo9XP-n6U1yb_YW3m6xaiwLvZU5tvN4ZxST2v0LVzLPXJP65Z925_tRMpodI12TDZoPaE0eDmmBQKYv63vd4YEonpCwEiB2dx_Vv8tYiXZCT-OXwvRHLk/s320/DSC00670_2.jpg" width="320" /></a>In my opinion so far, projects that combine machine knitting and hand knitting are just the best... they have the advantages of both in their process of knitting: the pace and the satisfaction of creating big and wonderful items of machine knitting and the sensuality and deep relaxation that only hand knitting can provide. And the finished objects have that in them I think.<br />
<br />
The shawl came out absolutely amazing, better than I had hoped. With a size of about 175cm x 75cm and the wonderful softness of the alpaca yarn (Oh alpaca, I love you! You just never disappoint.) it created a lovely layer of pure coziness. I wrapped myself up in it as soon as it was finished and dry after blocking. It felt wonderful, like getting a big hug. And I definately made the right color choice too! I love the color in the finished shawl!<br />
And my grandma loved it too! She loves triangular shawls and this one
made her nearly speechless! So quickly she opened the ribbon I had attached and wrapped herself up in
this big and cozy shawl, I had a big smile on my face. She said, she'll wear everytime when she's
sitting on her armchair and is reading. It was so wonderful to see her
this happy :)<br />
(also, she LOVED the color! Yes! Like I said, I was a little unsure about it...)<br />
Later she said she's
so happy, that I got the knitting and crafting from her. She's the one
that first taught me to knit. She also knitted a lot for
my mom and her sisters when they were children from the wool of their
own sheep and angora bunnies. I think it's amazing and heart warming, I am proud to continue keeping this tradition alive.<br />
<br />
You can also find <b><i><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/drizzleofhoney/deep-as-the-ocean" target="_blank">this project on Ravelry</a></i></b> (there are also more pictures).<br />
<br />
I thought about making another shawl for myself, using the second cone of the merino-silk blend yarn that I have from <b><i><a href="http://thedrizzleofhoney.blogspot.se/2016/06/be-mine-cardigan.html">Be Mine cardigan</a></i></b>. It's a pink/brownish tone, matching the pink/violett color of the cardigan. I bought the two cones with the idea in mind of making a cardigan with a matching scarf or shawl. I think this will be it! (now I just need some more spare time, haha ;) )<br />
<br />
I am really pleased with this design. I also could imagine writing a hand knit pattern for it. It would be a rather easy and relaxing knit I think. We'll see about that :)<br />
<br />
But let's have a look at my second project: I also made a <b>sweater for myself for Christmas</b>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWKu3OPIsygd5-9qsMA69vjHPdMp4F9atCjieHacG59cWFppjs17rYS__DSKMpDAkm4_PoA4eJwFKy_EcnyKfIFeJsYK1Db8_qxYKX7Bop8i6WiC24y3zemNtGQmMYZy3809uO5q4RgA4/s1600/DSC00682_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWKu3OPIsygd5-9qsMA69vjHPdMp4F9atCjieHacG59cWFppjs17rYS__DSKMpDAkm4_PoA4eJwFKy_EcnyKfIFeJsYK1Db8_qxYKX7Bop8i6WiC24y3zemNtGQmMYZy3809uO5q4RgA4/s320/DSC00682_3.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
For this sweater I re-calculated a
100% acrylic sweater I bought some time ago for very little money because I liked the design. But I totally disliked the material, so I decided to make my own version on the knitting machine using a very nice and soft aplaca
and wool blend yarn. I'm using the new Drops Flora in black. A very nice yarn! Just perfect for this project! I love this fibre combo, it brings out the
best of both.<br />
<br />
So, while calculating I made some small changes:<br />
- I made the body a bit longer (it was kind of a cropped sweater that I had bought),<br />
- I made the sleeves as long and as wide as I wanted them to be (so, both longer and wider than the original that had fitted sleeves)<br />
- and I switched the round neck for a big and wide double faced turtle neck to get a more cowl-like feeling.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0_0AKcYmxj_60FVrLsj4X6RhSU1fgcc0eSMvkRLTAqi389MOIstTUs7xtyLDIpyh5w9MjyVphN6sJaadeDckmWPZ8SW4vtm1_YxnX11ZcVC23-79Hm42LaShsQ-sM3Ny8KErT_Ya_Cv8/s1600/DSC00775_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="343" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0_0AKcYmxj_60FVrLsj4X6RhSU1fgcc0eSMvkRLTAqi389MOIstTUs7xtyLDIpyh5w9MjyVphN6sJaadeDckmWPZ8SW4vtm1_YxnX11ZcVC23-79Hm42LaShsQ-sM3Ny8KErT_Ya_Cv8/s400/DSC00775_4.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Although the calculating took some time, I didn't have much trouble while knitting. The yarn knitted so nicely in my knitting machine, who would have thought?! I had never used this kind of yarn in the machine before, so I was pleasantly surprised. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
And I am very very happy with the result! It's such a great sweater! So comfortable and nice to wear! It's soft, it's warm (the collar really does add a lovely kind of warmth) and I made it myself! That's just something different, as you probably know. <br />
<br />
<br />
My new favorite sweater and just the perfect new basic sweater to wear with everything if I just can’t make up my
mind or if I don’t want to or if I don’t have time to.<br />
And I am absolutely in LOVE with this big collar! Best decision EVER!<br />
<br />
<br />
Funny fact: In the end, this project used about 1650m of yarn. So, it's got the forth place in the ranking of my projects that use the most yarn (according to Ravelry). <br />
<br />
For more pictures and all the (k)nitty-gritty infos, you can also have a look at <b><i><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/drizzleofhoney/black-swan" target="_blank">this </a><a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" target="_blank">project on Ravelry</a></i></b>.<br />
<br />
Those were my Christmas projects for this year. I'm excited about what the new year will bring. <br />
<br />
To a new and wonderful blogging year! Hope you'll continue to share the journey with me! :)<br />
Cheers!<br />

Choosing different colors really gives Soulmate crescent shawl from my Emotions Collection a new face. I surprised myself with this one!<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
I am happy to finally show you this gorgeous version of Soulmate shawl! <br />
My friend immediately fell in love with this shawl in May when I released the collection. And so I thought later on it would be a nice gift for her 30th birthday in November.<br />
Although the shawl is designed to be a light summer shawl, I managed to create a wonderful winter version.<br />
<br />
I combined lovely Drops Baby Merino yarn in dark gray and 100% merino Malabrigo Sock in playa to knit the winter version of Soulmate shawl. If you want to do the same, you could also opt for an alpaca blend yarn for a more rustic and winter themed look regarding materials or even a light DK yarn for some extra thickness. But I wanted to still have all the merino goodness in this one! Soft, light and beautiful stitch definition.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie8FfjcbZHOZTYE79ZfXM1ooCGADkQZQWTP1Ydz6b4ihKFFSfNE9t4dCYOc9caV9U4iaVWQyn0SWythGJGUqTmRXxYdMAgXoc66I9BTcHuF1jwLUo_LotAetMAF1geObSH9obxyCeBbKw/s1600/DSC00336PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="196" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie8FfjcbZHOZTYE79ZfXM1ooCGADkQZQWTP1Ydz6b4ihKFFSfNE9t4dCYOc9caV9U4iaVWQyn0SWythGJGUqTmRXxYdMAgXoc66I9BTcHuF1jwLUo_LotAetMAF1geObSH9obxyCeBbKw/s320/DSC00336PM.jpg" width="320" /></a>To create a little tighter fabric (since it's for winter), I chose to work with 3mm/ US 2-3 needles.<br />
This also means, the shawl gets a little bit smaller. It came out 170 x 45cm/ 68 x 18 inches (as in pattern, knitted with 4mm/US 6 needles it would be about<br />
230 x 55cm/ 92 x 22 inches).<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0vaLysKsQIJWQ19tLx_tL7qMSd_ZsxbtvSuAs-OlcYqCEJULP7BB9rWQ1HhwB-7k2Wp12Kuqg22bjGMMaLmP-uE34NjTEmXtualnYf_OgKdpVZkJxjDJhb2Tv1tVOVJYmLRolxMS7by4/s1600/DSC00316PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0vaLysKsQIJWQ19tLx_tL7qMSd_ZsxbtvSuAs-OlcYqCEJULP7BB9rWQ1HhwB-7k2Wp12Kuqg22bjGMMaLmP-uE34NjTEmXtualnYf_OgKdpVZkJxjDJhb2Tv1tVOVJYmLRolxMS7by4/s320/DSC00316PM.jpg" width="206" /></a><br />
<br />
I so love this color combo! It's gives a very metropolitan feel to this shawl. And because of its size and crescent shape, there are endless ways to wear and style it!<br />
<br />
The feel of the thin, yet tight fabric is just amazing in my opion! Especially in comination with the incredible softness of merino and the lovely eyelet pattern sections.<br />
<br />
But for another winter themed version I could definately imagine using light DK weight and an alpaca or wool blend. This would add another dimension to it.<br />

As you know, in my spare time I'm working on a big machine knit project - a grey Alpaca Coat. <br />
<a name='more'></a> <br /><br />
I am so in love with this project, I just love everything about it! The yarn, the pattern, the fabric, how the greys are working together, making progress using my hand knitting machine, ...<br />
<br />
Although I had some ups and downs in the process, I managed to finnish all the main parts during the past week. And right now they are blocking. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLxSel1JtOIK7zEy6lAyZSeXhWlRDwzl0G0bhgCi34ph3LdT8p1aGqG3-Yu31cmhe5mUVTAm3ihOIVA9_6v0fNJtqQDEa3HRpJ2_T7kqkrTFtXc4dTd4k57Y7S08xHTVRZX4Z0hAHjErA/s1600/DSC00626_PMPS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLxSel1JtOIK7zEy6lAyZSeXhWlRDwzl0G0bhgCi34ph3LdT8p1aGqG3-Yu31cmhe5mUVTAm3ihOIVA9_6v0fNJtqQDEa3HRpJ2_T7kqkrTFtXc4dTd4k57Y7S08xHTVRZX4Z0hAHjErA/s320/DSC00626_PMPS.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
You all know, I LOVE alpaca yarn and working with it. Having a big project on the machine gave me a lot of insights and experience. Because alpaca yarn is always a little special. It has those tiny fibres sticking out everywhere (which of course makes it so great, but can also couse a little bit of trouble when machine knitting), it also has limited tear resistance as I came to know and it's incredibly light, which makes this project even possible in the first place.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
In the picture above you can see the pattern I am using. It's a slip stitch pattern that is very pretty on both sides, which is very nice for a jacket or coat where one might see the inside as well.<br />
I am also playing with two colors, light grey and pearl grey which makes things even more interesting. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN_ofJ8VmMl7-GLKFrgeYjW5RLnGsshSstxhHTrszoQ2X1Rwbo1afZZtX_h7F3NoDkjVXFVjohyphenhyphen-VT_4z9_mpLRN99KAacFKXRAHQXZwAgl3Htg26DXKXd7KBF2fZWO8hByI6M1grP6h8/s1600/DSC00615_PMPS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN_ofJ8VmMl7-GLKFrgeYjW5RLnGsshSstxhHTrszoQ2X1Rwbo1afZZtX_h7F3NoDkjVXFVjohyphenhyphen-VT_4z9_mpLRN99KAacFKXRAHQXZwAgl3Htg26DXKXd7KBF2fZWO8hByI6M1grP6h8/s320/DSC00615_PMPS.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Look at this fabric! I am sorry you can't touch this. It's so soft and fluffy!<br />
Knitted on two beds, it's like a double knit fabric. Which makes it also thicker of course. But this is the intention, as well as quite some ease that I included in this garment. Because I want to wear it as a coat, meaning on top of a sweater. So, what I need is some space.<br />
Bonus: More ease in a garment also makes it more comfy! :) <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Here are some things that happended during the process of knitting this fab garment:<br />
I had to re-knit an entire sleeve because one knot came loose during blocking. Rigth in the middle of the sleeve. On the right side. So, from now on, I am no langer using any knots to connect new yarn cakes. I've never really been a big fan of that in the first place tbh. But I had been told to use weavers knot to connect yarns when machine knitting and so I did it, never liked it though. And now it happened. And I feel like - I knew it! So, no more knotting for me. Instead, I simply start with the new yarn at the beginning of the next RS row. Works perfectly, increases the numbers of ends that need to be woven in at the end, but it's much nicer in my opinion!<br />
<br />
But the worst thing was: When knitting the back, I was so occupied keeping track of the two color pattern, I forgot to shape the waist. About 100 rows in, I realized what I had done. I nearly cried a little. All those rows I knitted... all for nothing. I was in a really bad mood for the rest of the day.<br />
I had to frog and do it again - on another day of course... Not my finest moment. But at least it went all smoothly the second time around ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXFq4ZECXIq9t2W-HHZKwOLHgiO0SDsA1PLYWki2-djd8L6BcuQbspb8w14XN4sq15mgfawbfdLLdR63AbCMmxDeZda1bRHmtKyfRvtllOi6VgiKbnXNBsU1pqfIcUj3tmdicbn4dYOjI/s1600/DSC00609_PMPS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="277" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXFq4ZECXIq9t2W-HHZKwOLHgiO0SDsA1PLYWki2-djd8L6BcuQbspb8w14XN4sq15mgfawbfdLLdR63AbCMmxDeZda1bRHmtKyfRvtllOi6VgiKbnXNBsU1pqfIcUj3tmdicbn4dYOjI/s320/DSC00609_PMPS.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
For all these main parts (sleevs, fronts and back) I used 2791m (3052yds) of alpaca yarn. Pretty high number. But it is a double layer knit. (so it's not that surprising) It weighs only about 650g though.<br />
What's still coming is the collar once everything is seamed up. It will be in light grey and in a ribbing pattern.<br />
For the final finishing I intend to add i-cords to the fronts that form some loops on one side to fit around the buttons that will be on the other side.<br />
But I am still button-hunting, it's so hard to find nice wooden buttons (which I would prefer). I ordered some about a week ago and they looked so very nice on the picture but turned out be total crap. One of them even had one extra hole...<br />
<br />
So, that's how far I've come in the past month. I've been very busy working on different new patterns and other commitments, but I hope I'll find the time to keep working on this GORGEOUS coat!! Because I really can't wait to wear it, especially now, that winter's approaching fast...<br />
<br />
Have a nice weekend everyone!!<br />
Love,<br />

I am proud to announce that I have released my new design: Sky Shawl! <br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
The Sky Shawl design actually started as a <b><i><a href="http://thedrizzleofhoney.blogspot.se/2016/03/sky-asymmetric-triangular-shawl.html">birthday gift for a friend</a></i></b> in February this year.<br />
<br />
I designed a shawl for DK or worsted weight yarn that drapes just beautifully but has a light feeling to it. In addition, I wanted to create a shawl that is simple and classic, so it can be worn with very different kinds of outfits: casual as well as chic.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikxYrtvjfOVlSNB0285PhbV0yeAf6-C_tvppgr0LIHj1XgJlpxb3ef8V9I-d7NU5pptEfk0uY1hhY0QcNp5RULzZYy957Psu_ruyvIyU_aX4wxqQdGUmea-pv1N8S1dtr1xz90by-JX1o/s1600/DSC00181_PMPS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikxYrtvjfOVlSNB0285PhbV0yeAf6-C_tvppgr0LIHj1XgJlpxb3ef8V9I-d7NU5pptEfk0uY1hhY0QcNp5RULzZYy957Psu_ruyvIyU_aX4wxqQdGUmea-pv1N8S1dtr1xz90by-JX1o/s320/DSC00181_PMPS.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Sky lives through its timeless look, created with garter stitch knitted on big needles for a lovely drape and a warm cozy fabric.<br />
Just the right amount of stripes, delicate eyelet lace and a small picot edging make Sky a very feminine design. <br /><br />
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUushha4QZYaR_h-MedDvCDxPkYHMX6l8uSzRqj2Jj_EbS-S8DuIj97MlTvP_xn9gCO_sWkkWMyxB60_A5YzsfbL7s4AnRJcZa7YKQzozabZxaJ3xh2r_U6neXyv_Yq37PHdufyQfQclQ/s1600/DSC00155_PMPS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="271" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUushha4QZYaR_h-MedDvCDxPkYHMX6l8uSzRqj2Jj_EbS-S8DuIj97MlTvP_xn9gCO_sWkkWMyxB60_A5YzsfbL7s4AnRJcZa7YKQzozabZxaJ3xh2r_U6neXyv_Yq37PHdufyQfQclQ/s320/DSC00155_PMPS.jpg" width="320" /></a> <br />
<br /><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Using a worsted weight yarn ensures to have a nice snuggly and warm accessory for the slowly arriving winter on the northern hemisphere.<br />
<br />
But Sky can also be knitted with fingering weight yarn, as some test knitters already showed. The shawl will then be a little bit smaller. And if you'd like to use fingering yarn, please use some bigger needles (4mm/US 6 or 4,5mm/US 7) for your project as well to get the same delightful drape.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
And did I mention that Sky also is the perfect relax-and-knit-in-front-of-the-tv project? It really is! And who doesn't love a project that allows you to relax your mind when knitting but still is a pleasure to knit... I know I do!<br />
<br />
I hope you'll love Sky and have a wonderful and relaxing time knitting your own! <br />
<br />
Love,<br />
Stefanie<br />

Fall is here! Perfect time to knit some hats! :) <br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Who doesn't like knitting hats? They are so satisfying and quick to knit.<br />
I haven't been much of a hat knitter so far, but this year I'm taking it to another level.<br />
<br />
My man left his (then) favorite hat at a hotel some time ago and since then he has been a little bit angry with himself. So, I thought I'll knit him his new favorite hat!<br />
<br />
The first one I made is <i><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gorro-amanara" target="_blank"><b>Amanara hat</b></a></i>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhohWmaivjlKP2Cnf42-rIRfG32YLcwl8TNpICnrFiEOdChfUIcV-adfLXHKqfuUuBc_mRUQ05tE-iLN3utcNp0heaBdUPyfbMdfrNUeD81-EgbCoRv15qZqn_SyIpWmKGYTgJ6FGLFvvg/s1600/IMG_20160926_162240.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhohWmaivjlKP2Cnf42-rIRfG32YLcwl8TNpICnrFiEOdChfUIcV-adfLXHKqfuUuBc_mRUQ05tE-iLN3utcNp0heaBdUPyfbMdfrNUeD81-EgbCoRv15qZqn_SyIpWmKGYTgJ6FGLFvvg/s320/IMG_20160926_162240.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This a lovely cabled hat by Valeria Garcia.<br />
I used some left over Drops Karisma in petrol cerise and 4mm needles.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizYbUEDajK1lJqd8UuERqF8hZzpu6x814LnvVoUuBBr7PvbaGhYDdoTUB1r2L11q7blFz-prgSVnvt9b26o3i_I8XtL0w8Ce8E51ydL52p0_Zk_t1psxbuT9uiCX9IrcPr_YgZIs1OJpE/s1600/IMG_20161002_164802.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizYbUEDajK1lJqd8UuERqF8hZzpu6x814LnvVoUuBBr7PvbaGhYDdoTUB1r2L11q7blFz-prgSVnvt9b26o3i_I8XtL0w8Ce8E51ydL52p0_Zk_t1psxbuT9uiCX9IrcPr_YgZIs1OJpE/s320/IMG_20161002_164802.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
It was a quick knit, although the longest of all three hats. But all the cabling took some time. I love knitting cables, so I really enjoyed knitting this one. (see <b><i><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/drizzleofhoney/gorro-amanara" target="_blank">this project on Ravelry</a></i></b>)<br />
<br />
He was very happy about having a new hat and loved the pattern! It also fits perfectly, the only little disturbing thing about this hat as time progressed and fall eventually arrived for good:<br />
It's a little too thin when the wind is blowing.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
So, I started to think about hat number two.<br />
I call it <b><i><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/drizzleofhoney/petrolgray" target="_blank">PetrolGray</a></i></b> (because I can't think of a clever name yet).<br />
<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1aiM1TOBznLqPKh0zudwNV2RAf6bYgC4AKXv9XAuBVPFXNx2F4NLecb59Bz-dhIpK4VKvTlr6wRpvzbnoWgWys54HhUwmgjz-QmrTI7dICgTUJ7yelcA2BAXfk1HX1kv4z-JrpPc1kPo/s1600/20161002_163602_PMPS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1aiM1TOBznLqPKh0zudwNV2RAf6bYgC4AKXv9XAuBVPFXNx2F4NLecb59Bz-dhIpK4VKvTlr6wRpvzbnoWgWys54HhUwmgjz-QmrTI7dICgTUJ7yelcA2BAXfk1HX1kv4z-JrpPc1kPo/s320/20161002_163602_PMPS.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
I improvised a simple hat with a small 4 stitch repeat fair isle
pattern. And I knitted this one on my Duo 80 knitting machine. (wanted to try that for a while)<br />
It's a double layered hat (to fight off wind and cold).<br />
On the outside I used alpaca yarn for a maximum of warmth and on the inside I used some merino yarn I had left for a maximum of softness.
(to make sure there is no itching what so ever)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
He’s totally in love with this double faced hat, it’s exactly what he
wanted he says. (so I got him right ;) ) It’s warm, it’s soft, it’s
very masculine (guess I chose the right colors too :) ) <br />10/10! :)<br />
<br />
It's now his go-to-hat.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
But still, I had some Malabrigo Rios in pearl left that I couldn't bear sitting there in my stash. So, what to do?<br />
Oh! I know! Let's make another hat! A really warm, wind proof, super cozy double layer worsted weight merino one!<br />
And <b><i><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/drizzleofhoney/fischland" target="_blank">Double Mocha</a></i></b> was casted on!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicZgQZ_nbvd5WntNhHEQOdpq9JXXeH0ST3bRmCqpTDR-X-co4XYbp5v9OqzatD50vjCFVo9LyzcWiFtbi4vqvHjzkD6RyGpzBYfv68CmoP2yY-Mg62LPiMc8-Qwsw6pAP4ASI95nnsPTM/s1600/IMG_20161005_110400.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicZgQZ_nbvd5WntNhHEQOdpq9JXXeH0ST3bRmCqpTDR-X-co4XYbp5v9OqzatD50vjCFVo9LyzcWiFtbi4vqvHjzkD6RyGpzBYfv68CmoP2yY-Mg62LPiMc8-Qwsw6pAP4ASI95nnsPTM/s320/IMG_20161005_110400.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
For this one I also used a <b><i><a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fischland" target="_blank">free pattern</a></i></b>, because I just wanted to start this project and work with this lovely yarn!<br />
<br />
And this knitted up so quickly on 4,5mm needles, that I had to find some matching color already the next day.<br />
Fluffy Drops Big Merino in mocha catched my eye. (also a very beautiful colorway, which gave this hat it's name)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1kN3BQ69WZlYQE-7p99sp92fBwGGwRJEaDkOfQdkgFPuLh4yxFei3frfyo_KpsEWdrggY5xIMHRmfD77JvrGRDMjqi3IA_klFFEnXIk8J1mKs7_E6QFWQZwRKt0vXKoZCgEFqM1-NIbo/s1600/DSC00265_PMPS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="296" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1kN3BQ69WZlYQE-7p99sp92fBwGGwRJEaDkOfQdkgFPuLh4yxFei3frfyo_KpsEWdrggY5xIMHRmfD77JvrGRDMjqi3IA_klFFEnXIk8J1mKs7_E6QFWQZwRKt0vXKoZCgEFqM1-NIbo/s320/DSC00265_PMPS.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The hat is very simple. Provisional cast on, stockinette stich in the round, and after finshing the first half (or the "first hat"), using the stitches from the cast on and knitting an identical second half to it.<br />
<br />
Fold both hats into one another and that's it!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Super easy and the perfect in-between-relax-knitting-in-front-of-the-tv project.<br />
<br />
And of course the hat is wearable both ways.<br />
<br />
This will be the perfect hat for winter!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I'd like to say "we have a winner", but they surely are all winners! Three new perfect hats! And a happy man :)<br />
Doesn't get better than that ;)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I have one more thing I want to show you. Because fall brings another great treat: The final harvest of the gardening season! :) I was so happy, I have to share this with you!<br />
<br />

Look at this! I had such beautiful and colorfull beets this year! So lovely! And I'd never thought there would be so many onions left at this point.<br />
<br />
And a lot of different pumkins. I had them the first time this year, but they will stay! They are so delicious - unbelievable!<br />
<br />

Even my three little bunnies thought so :)<br />
<br />
(sorry for the shaky picture, they just wouldn't sit still with all those yummy pumpkins in front of their noses :) )<br />

Now I'm finally ready to show you the second of my summer knitting projects this year: <i>Maeve Shrug</i>!<br />
The pattern uses super stretchy and easy to do sewn bind off on its big collar, so I'd like to show you in a little tutorial how to do it - because it's so great! <br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
A little while ago I've already shown you <b><i><a href="http://thedrizzleofhoney.blogspot.se/2016/07/wip-wednesday-summer-knitting-2016.html">some WIP pictures from this shrug</a></i></b>. And if you <b><i><a href="https://www.instagram.com/thedrizzleofhoney/" target="_blank">follow me on Instagram</a></i></b> you're always seeing what I'm up to anyways :)<br />
So, after <b><i><a href="http://thedrizzleofhoney.blogspot.se/2016/08/route-1-summer-sweater.html">Route 1 sweater</a></i></b>, I started Maeve Shrug by Carrie Bostick Hoge.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3iUISqTRWWhPFWmLlWAxKxCXjYMhgxwt6ebDXZFlUdf9zOnSEhoaPIN_6zFgek0wqQcNwICphyphenhyphen4qhn-mg-WE7NoPkWNDUbDnsqIuFwtPMW-TqMSxfjdIUSVU9X46qMPCaueK-E4WLbt8/s1600/DSC01733_PMPS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="231" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3iUISqTRWWhPFWmLlWAxKxCXjYMhgxwt6ebDXZFlUdf9zOnSEhoaPIN_6zFgek0wqQcNwICphyphenhyphen4qhn-mg-WE7NoPkWNDUbDnsqIuFwtPMW-TqMSxfjdIUSVU9X46qMPCaueK-E4WLbt8/s320/DSC01733_PMPS.jpg" width="320" /></a>And I am absolutely amazed by how well it turned out! I so so love the drape of the collar! It just feels like wearing a little cocoon.<br />
Also the design, depending on how you style it, is both casual and chic at the same time. And I'm always a fan of items that are versatile.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQJxa7l6jhPusFSBN0sUoukF9c-PQfgcBerXIfI-4XvaWs2af9JmwjP5p_KAQZGEYrXGNHi15K3AaJOIjDhHYW2a9_S5Mb-JJmGVV0Bb4qA8E98-qQaR2GFLfgdUNWe-Kbqxga9uD1Dsg/s1600/DSC01829_PMPS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQJxa7l6jhPusFSBN0sUoukF9c-PQfgcBerXIfI-4XvaWs2af9JmwjP5p_KAQZGEYrXGNHi15K3AaJOIjDhHYW2a9_S5Mb-JJmGVV0Bb4qA8E98-qQaR2GFLfgdUNWe-Kbqxga9uD1Dsg/s320/DSC01829_PMPS.jpg" width="320" /></a>For this cardigan I used double held Drops Lace because I wanted a really light garment that's just perfect for the transition period between summer and fall. And that's exactly what I got! :) It's super light and airy yet warm, even with a little wind breathing through it, because of the alpaca content. (which is one of my favorite animal fibres)<br />
<br />
For the body I used two strands of lace yarn in color light camel. I made the body on my knitting machine because it's simple straight knitting with some increases and decreases at the sleeves.<br />
A little bit of calculation with my machine gauge and not even two hours later the body was already blocking! :)<br />

And after seaming the sleeves, the hand knitting part could start. I started with the cuffs using 3,5 mm needles and holding one strand in light camel and one strand powder pink of the same lace yarn together. I had the powder pink sitting in my stash for quite a while. Remember my <b><i><a href="http://thedrizzleofhoney.blogspot.se/2014/07/powder-pink-lace-shawl-free-pattern.html">Frost Flower Shawl</a></i></b>? I bought two skeins of powder pink lace yarn that time but then only used one for the shawl. And the powder pink looked so very pretty together with the light camel, so I decided to make Maeve in those two colors! :)<br />
<br />
However, Maeve's cuffs went rather quick. I knitted the garter stitch back and forth to be even quicker (and isn't this the best part of garter - only knit stitches, and not knitting in the round alternating a knit round and a purl round like the pattern suggests).<br />
<br />
The collar however really took some time to knit. But since it was back and forth garter stitch, this made the perfect not-thinking-while-relaxing-in-the-sun and knitting-while-watching-tv in the evening project.<br />
<br />
The pattern uses Elizabeth Zimmerman's sewn bind off for the collar (and of course the cuffs as well). I had never done this bind off before but let me tell you it's so easy! It takes a little time though. But the patience is definately well invested. It gives a very nice and extra flexible edging. And of course, it fits the garter stitch just perfectly! And as stretchy as it is, it would be suitable for any edge that needs to be flexible, like necklines, cuffs or socks.<br />
So, let me show you how to do it!<br />
<br />

<b>1.</b><br />
Cut the yarn from your knitted item<i> three times the length</i> of the bind off edge. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<b>2.</b><br />
Thread the yarn in into tapestry needle.<br />
Then put the needle into the <i>first two stitches as if to purl</i>.<br />
Pull yarn through.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<b>3.</b><br />
Then put needle <i>into the first stitch</i> on your knitting needle <i>as if to knit</i>.<br />
<i>Slip this stitch off</i> of the knitting needle and pull yarn through.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Then it looks like this. Congratulations! You've bound off the first stitch! :) Easy, isn't it?!<br />
<br />
<i>Continue repeating steps 2 and 3</i> until there's only one stitch left on the knitting needle to bind off.<br />
<br />
Don't pull the yarn through too tight when doing this bind off. Otherwise it won't be as flexible and not as pretty.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIWPoJRZRkBYVGF9r_pMSwozcX_fQhyukZgUg6M6Z1I_42qtKIZNsYY54MHMVM8SC_02ELpMkdIHr5QstsG6Ae5Q5jPUdtx1e07joAGIPkpo6GQphXkEOwkzk_DDaekXgEuYWK2HJZWl0/s1600/DSC00004PMPS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="218" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIWPoJRZRkBYVGF9r_pMSwozcX_fQhyukZgUg6M6Z1I_42qtKIZNsYY54MHMVM8SC_02ELpMkdIHr5QstsG6Ae5Q5jPUdtx1e07joAGIPkpo6GQphXkEOwkzk_DDaekXgEuYWK2HJZWl0/s320/DSC00004PMPS.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<b>4.</b><br />
When you've reached the last stitch, simply put the tapestry needle into this stitch <i>as if to purl</i>, <i>slip stitch off</i> of the knitting needle and pull the yarn through. And that's it! All stitches are bound off.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

Sewn bind off gives a very nice and neat edging that's super flexible. <br />

Here you can see the bind off a little from the top.<br />
I think it fits just perfectly for items knitted in garter stitch, but goes well for other patterns like ribbing as well.<br />
Because of its flexiblity, this bind off is great to use on all edgings that need to be able to stretch, like collar or neck edgings, cuffs, mittens or socks.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
One last thing: After finishing Maeve, I blocked only the collar again, because I wasn't satisfied with the look of the unblocked garter stitch. This definately made some difference! So, I would recommend to do that.<br />
I love my new favorite shrug for this year's fall season! ♥<br />
<br />
And I hope you like the tutorial and it may inspired you to trying a different bind of for your next need-to-be-flexible-edge ;) <br />
